Shouldn't have any problem. As long as the CPU you're upgrading to is for the socket you have and is compatible with the BIOS firmware you're set. All you need to do is pop the new one in, attach the CPU cooler (plug the fan in for the love of god) and fire her up.
Does the socket differ for different motherboards?? And what do you mean by "it should be compatible with bios firmware"?
Fractal, tell us the model of the 2.2Ghz CPU, tell us the model of the motherboard you currently have, and finaly tell us the model of the 2.6Ghz CPU you want to try using.
