i was wondering to know if i can pick up the heatsink after pressing it on the cpu cap to see if the thermal paste have got spreaded correctly. will it lead to something like air bubbles ?

air bubbles.
The idea with it is that as the heat sink is pressed down, it spreads the thermal compound/paste/whatever in even thin layer.
when you pull it off, both sides are a bit sticky and you end up with two mountain like landscapes, so to say.
pressing these back together traps air in between which acts as insulation.
