As im currently using windows 7 with my asus maximus v gene do i just leave the the windows 7 drivers that are currently installed then update/upgrade to windows 10 with the windows 7 drivers installed?

Yes just run the update , works very well , your new key for Windows 10 will be your hardware profile. If you stay on Windows 10 for over 30 days , you can't revert back to 7 as license will be no longer valid.

Always backup important files , even when doing the in place upgrade.

do the upgrade then lookup the new cd key for windows 10 then completely wipe the system and reinstall windows 10 again is the best procedure then install new drivers from the motherboard cd.

I use http://download.cnet.com/SlimDrivers-Free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html for most up to date drivers but if you install it make sure to read what you are installing click no on prompt to install some freeware or whatever they have there.

Good tool to lookup cd keys is called produkey just google it. ( http://downloads.tomsguide.com/ProduKey,0301-26388.html )

Also good tool for windows 10 http://dws.wzor.net/ uninstalls all the spying stuff from microsofts side.

So I kinda need to recover the product key to reinstall windows 10? When installing windows 10 i can use the driver disc that came with the board? I have herd spybot beacon is agood software to get rid of all the spyware too

After the upgrade yes you need to lookup the cd key as it will change so you can use it on the next complete reinstall of the OS but as far as the drivers id use the utility or the motherboard manufacturers website to get most up to date drivers. Motherboard CD works too but might be a bit dated drivers.

Windows 10 free upgrade product key and activation:

If you upgraded your PC to Windows 10 from a genuine copy of either Windows 8/8.1 or Windows 7, your license will be tied to the hardware you upgrade on, not your Microsoft account, and you won’t get any new product key either. You can verify this using any third-party product key fetching software like ProduKey or The Ultimate PID Checker. They will show you generic product keys like TX9XD-98N7V-6WMQ6-BX7FG-H8Q99 for Windows 10 Home and VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T for Windows 10 Pro edition.

So what if you want to clean install Windows 10 on the same machine? Yes you can do that by downloading an ISO file, turning it into a USB drive or DVD media and then running the setup for clean install. During install, when Windows setup asks you for product key, simply skip the step and let it complete the installation. Once Windows 10 clean install is complete, your copy of Windows will activate automatically as soon as you connect to Internet. This is because Microsoft knows you clean installed on the same hardware. You can always check your activation status from either Settings (WinKey+I) > Update & security > Activation:

Cool but the only problem is the chipset driver for that motherboard for windows 10 of the asus website is beta. Will driver be ok?

Normally for motherboard chipset id go straight to intel and download it there so far never had any issues.

My maximus v gene is a z77 chipset and on their website the chipset drivers are beta. would this be ok to use and will the utilitis for the windows 8 or 7 work a sthere isnt utility software for windows 10?
