Hey, I bought 16GB of Crucial Balistix Sport ram (2 x 8) on Amazon and have been having an issue since I installed. Naturally I thought "Hey, guess my ram is faulty, let's put the old ram in"; however, after putting my old ram back in the problem still persists.

Now for the problem:

  • Hardlocking
    Freezing
HDD activity reaches zero and I have to hard-reboot
BSOD's with multiple issues usually relating to drivers failing or a stack buffer.

My main issue is that these all persist AFTER I put my old (and still normal as of right before this mornings install) ram back in. I am 99.9% sure it's not the motherboard because I've never had these issues before the new ram ws installed and I have tried all slots individually with no failures. Windows Memory Diagnostics said no issues were found in the ram at all (new or old) and SFC /Scannow has given me no issues, so I'm not sure where to go from here

My Specs:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3
    CPU: AMD FX-8350
    RAM: Crucial Balistix Sport 16GB / G.Skill Sniper 8GB(old)
    PSU: Corsair GS-700
    GPU: EVGA 980ti SC+

I'm currently in the process of backing up important files and reformatting my Windows install to see if that helps.

Late reply, I actually updated all drivers and BIOS. I've had some other complications pop up since then pointing at the motherboard. Going to replace it when I can and hope for the best :D
