Ok so my grandma picked me up a laptop from the dumb. So I turn it on and discover why the orginal people got rid of it, bsod. So I replaced the hdd and upgraded the ram to 3 gb sense my moms boyfriend wants a laptop just for web serving, so I thought this would be perfect. He gave me the ok to spend money on getting a new internal keyboard sense 2 are broken. The laptop is a hp 8710w mobile station. I need part number 450471-001 and that is with "pointing stick." What is pointing stick and do you think he will need it. If not, I can get part number 450472-001 without the pointing stick. I have already taken off the keyboard-old. Thing is, it seems like I can only get it from calhountech or aliexpress. I have not heard of either of them, so can I trust? I tried eBay but they have a little diffrent models so I do not think they will fit. Anyways, I need some help before purchasing. Also, if you find one that will work, please provide the link. Thanks in advance.

Ok so then I do not think he will need that. So, now where can I buy the keyboard that is the right keyboard at a trusted site?

Sigh, he does not reply back I am guessing because he thinks I should but a 500 dollar laptop for a man who is just going to be web surfing. Just please let me know what site I should go to with the right keyboard please, it is my money and not yours.

Sigh...I did not reply back instantly because I was cooking and consuming dinner.
If that is OK with you...

Where to buy?
A fully broken one on ebay, and swap the keyboard out.
A keyboard on ebay
A $10 external USB keyboard.

That's where I would look.

And the laptop I linked about Was $260, not $500

Ok my bad about the price of the laptop. I am sorry about the instant thing, I just thought you were there if you know what I mean. And yes it us ok if you cook, lol. And um, why would I want a broken one? I need one that is not broken. If I wanted a broken one, I would have just used the one I took out...Also, I would like a link to the one on eBay, because in my orginal post, I said I went there but was not the exact model. Therefor I need to know which one will work or if I can trust any of those 2 sites I provided in the orginal post I did. I also mentioned, the word internal keyboard, so no not a external.

I meant a broken laptop. Salvage the keyboard from it.
If you can't find the exact replacement, an external keyboard might be the best option, in the short term until you can find an exact replacement.

It will take years for the exact model to just show up randomly. I do have other laptop but those are not even hp compaq. What about those 2 sites? What about eBay? Are those ones capatiable? All I want is a link to a keyboard that fits and reasonably priced.

Omg dude, you really think I am stupid enough to just get a keyboard without testing the PC? And number 2, did you see the part in my orginal post where I said it had a bsod (blue screen of death) and it was because of a hdd issue that I replaced the hdd. I also then saw low ram, so upgraded to 3 gb sense be will just be using for web surfing. So I must have turned the PC on in order to see if it works. Do you think I am stupid or something? I am really getting annoyed. All I need us a link (URL address) to the right model keyboard that will work. I am sorry if I sound bad or however you want to word it, but I am just really annoyed and just want a straight answer without creating a thread that will be a thousand comments by the time we actually get done.

Oh, ok you just replied as I was typing in my last. Ok the answer I needed. Thanks, but I think we still need to look because it is 18 dollars in shipping. Plus tge 50. What about those sites, what about just the eBay keyboards, are they working with mine?

aliexpress? Chinese site, a mixture of Kmart and ebay. One of the biggest 'retailers' on the planet.
You may get what you desire, you may not.

calhountech ? Never heard of them.

As far as the keyboards on ebay? You're on your own, as far as research as to what works.

Which is why I came here. You guys are the experts that can confirm if something works or not. Ok do you think this one will work even though it us not compaq but same number and part number I think. If you type in hp compaq 8710w keyboard, and scroll down to where it says new keyboard for hp Pavlin 8610...8710w...tge part number I said in my orginal comment. I will check here again in the morning sense I got to go get some sleep.

Well, I just saw it because I need the same keyboard and came across this thread. I wouldn't assume it would work, hence my question before I order one. I'm confused how on a laptop of this age a new keyboard is available, but if so and if it is of good quality, that's great. This has been a great laptop and I'm still getting good use out of it.

I work for a HP Platinum Channel Partner and have four years of professional experience at sourcing HP parts.
That is the right part number for that laptop according HP Partsurfer (link in prior post)
With that said whenever you are ordering replacement parts you are taking a chance that it might not be compatible or incorrect part or defective so always look for a reputable seller with a good return policy

Thanks, I'll let you know how it turns out. Should be here in a week. Would rather have a genuine HP replacement, but couldn't find.
