Hello. I have a big problem: My Job requires me to have no data loss, and I have to hook into their servers from the internet. Problem is: I have a 1% packet loss, farther up the trace route chain to my job, somewhere in the middle. beyond my ISP. How can I get this fixed, so that I do not have further complications?

UPDATE: It's alright guys: I found out what might have been the problem: someone was screwing with me

Solution
This is one of those problem only the very senior engineers at a ISP can solve and even then they need to have direct contacts with the senior engineers at other isp.

Even a trace does not really prove where the problems is. The path to a location is different in many cases to the path returning. This is related to the peering agreement between ISP. So you need to do traces from both ends to find it and in some cases you need to do traces from intermediate nodes.

You need to work to find a competent tech at your ISP to start and hope they can do something.

Your only real option is to speak to your ISP. It seems like an issue outside of your control. Good luck trying to prove to the ISP that it is an issue further down the line though. They are terrible at things like this.
