Hello guys !

During the past few days I saw many news about GTX 1080 and I am really excited for this GPU. Anyone have ideals about real-life performance of this card ? Should I upgrade to it from 980Ti or wait for 1080Ti ? It is not released yet but if I don't sell my 980ti soon the money I can get back will be drop dramatically.

I am gaming at 2k and 4k res (max setting is most preferred)

I know, sadly in my local the 2nd/used 980Ti price is dropping $15-$25 each 2 days since 1080 was announced.

Is your current card insufficient in any game you currently play? I wouldn't upgrade for the sake of upgrading unless one or more new titles are forcing me to drop settings (which happened a while ago for me with Witcher 3 at 2k >.<, but I've been waiting for Pascal).

The price drop in second hand 980Tis may make an SLI solution more viable as your next upgrade depending on the time-frame of how long your current 980Ti is able to keep up. Last time I checked this was still a hench card in it's own right, though idk about 4k.

I would say it depends on the games you play, and the resolution and refresh rate you're trying to push. If you have a 1080p (60Hz-144Hz) I think you would be fine with your 980ti in most games for a while. Probably until the 1180s come out assuming they keep the generation scheme the same. Once the 1080 is in full swing (thus a drop in prices for the 980ti), and you have the power available in your PSU and room in your case then I would suggest possibly getting an additional 980ti if you really need the performance. They way it would be cheaper, though, if you have a 980ti and are already willing to upgrade to a 1080 I doubt money's your problem.

Nontheless,
