USB-To-Hard Drive Adapter

Solution
Yup, you should either get a SATA to USB adapter with external power (for 3.5" drives), or an external enclosure for 3.5" drives or a docking station if you want to connect that HDD externally and be able to access it. It's just that the power coming from the USB ports (even USB ports which are 3.0) is not enough to power a 3.5" drive, so you definitely need something with external power source. :)
Hey there, sofibels.

3.5" HDDs need external power, so if the adapter has it, I don't see a reason for you not to be able to use it. On the other hand if it uses power only from the USB ports, even if you are using a Y cable (for 2 USB ports) you won't be able to power up a 3.5" HDD.

Hope that helps.
