Any way to test an older PSU? Corsair TX650 (V1, I believe) still viable?

Hi all,

This is a bit beyond my knowledge - so hopefully someone can shed some light for me.

The background:
My GF is a fan of garage sales, so that's what we spent this past weekend doing.
Anyway, to kill to boredom, I spent my time digging through all the electronics, computers & components I could find. I came across a Corsair TX650 and seemed to recall reading somewhere the model "CMPSU-650TX" was a SeaSonic made, old S12? based build and was a quality PSU in it's day.....maybe 6 years ago or so?

Anyway, I picked it up along with a couple of brand new SATA cables for a total of $8CAD.

Just curious:
1. Is there any way to accurately test whether this PSU is still performing at an acceptable level?
2. Assuming it is, is the TX650 still a viable PSU for daily use?

I don't need this PSU for myself, but I might use it in a budget build or a 'frankenstein' type rig from random used components at some point - if it's still functional of course. Ultimately, it's $8 including some SATA cables I'll definitely use so, if it's junk, it's junk - no big deal.

Any idea who made this CMPSU-650TX then? I thought SeaSonic made some of the original TX's, and CWT made some too (which were usually denoted model XXXXXXX-C)?

Again, a <$8 PSU I picked up at a garage sale, I'm really not worried if I picked up a junk 6+ year old CWT unit, just curious more than anything.

Oh, absolutely. If there's no real quick/definitive way to do it (I didn't think there was, but thought I'd ask and see), I'll just try it out with some old components I've got laying around - if all is ok there, I would assume it'll be fine for a pieced-together rig of used components. Even if it were to die at that point, I'm assuming it's of decent enough quality (despite the age) that it's unlikely to damage any of the components.

Anywhere that can confirm that SR? Just for my curiosity, as it doesn't really matter either way.

I found this site, I've seen it before, but no idea how reliable it's info is.
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm

It has
CMPSU-650TX = Seasonic,
CMPSU-650TX-C = CWT
CMPSU-650TXV2 = Seasonic
CMPSU=650TXM = CWT

Looks like Seasonic only got involved with the 750TX & 850TX at the V2 stage, but for the 650's that seems to indicate they were involved at V1? Thoughts?
