Hello THW, I have a killer pc with 970 gtx and fx8320 and a 970 gaming motherboard from msi, getting around 65-70 fps on Dota 2 just by walking, dropping very near to 20 when I overwhelm the game with cheats. Same with CS:GO but fps drops are near 30-50 and max fps is 85 when standing still. Doesn't change a damn thing if I max out or min. the video settings. I'm pretty sure it's a bottlenecking that I don't know even a bit about why it's happening. Also installed Overdrive of AMD and closed Turbo Core, DID help a pinch, but nowhere near compared to other people on the internet, youtube or whatever that are getting 120+ fps easily on Dota 2 and 250-300 on CS:GO (have asus 144hz monitor) ... Please help me, I'm ready to do everything to overcome this nerve-cracking as hell situation.

Solution

Yeah if your cores run at 1,4Ghz then disable cool'n'quiet or generally try to do a manual "o/c" ,put your cores to a set Ghz so they will always stay there.
Also clean up your cpu fan and check for temps it might slow down because it's getting too hot.

The FX 8xxx series is a great OC chip. OC that mofo, get an aftermarket CPU cooler.

Dude it's not the cpu problem. You should see that this cpu should work 2 Dota 2's at 144 hz (if it was possible) like no one else's business. But all of them are capped out at 1.4 ghz, instead of 3.5 ghz. I don't know what to do honestly...
