So I bought a 980 Ti 2 days before the reveal of the 1080. I have the choice of returning my 980 Ti for $510. Should I forget the return and stick with my 980 Ti, or should I do the return, not have a graphics card for a month or so(which im fine with), and put in the extra money and get a 1080 or whatever Polaris has to offer? I currently game on 1080p, but I am looking to get a 4k or 1440p monitor over the summer.
PS: I only have 5 more days to make this decision.

Solution
like i said, return now to be "safe" but endure the time without a GPU then
just please dont expect the gtx1080 to be the "4k killer"
since it "only" does Ashes of The Singularity at 74 FPS on extreme settings on 1080p on DX12 evenhttp://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1080-dx12-benchmarks/,
i cant see anyway for it to do 4k at 60fps in AAA in decent maxed out settings
(and what would be the point of not maxed out settings at 4k ;) )

btw, the 1080 will most likely NOT be "THE 4k GPU" it was touted to be
so far its barely 25% better than 980ti in benchmarks at 1080p

always wait with purchase until plenty reviews and benchmarks are out

you could return the TI now to be "safe"(but thus not have a GPU for a while), just dont hold your breath hoping for gtx1080 to be as "super" as it was hyped to be

Eh, the 1080 isn't likely going to crush 4k at 60 fps like a lot of people are hoping. I'm expecting typical performance gains, but this isn't going to be the graphics revolution a lot of people are blindly hoping for. Unfortunately your 5 day window won't let you see benchmarks first so it'll be a gamble either way.

As a side note, if you do sell and hope to grab a 1080, just because it releases on the 27th doesn't mean you'll be able to grab one then. With the typical mad rush, I would expect difficulties finding stock for a while.
