so i put a i5 2450 in my asus x501a and it worked but i noticed it would get about 158 degrees on the temp bar when playing a medium level game but when i would let it set and cool it would cool to 108 degrees but the question is even when i dont do anything and it stays at 108 degrees the laptop after 15 to 30min just justs off and ive checked all my settings and everything all i can think is a bad cpu?
also the orignal cpu that came out was a 2020m please let me know what you think of that chip.

That is typical for a device that uses 35 watts. I have an i5 2500s which is at 106 just typing to you. Asus makes high quality components, so i would not be worried with that much heat. You can turn your fans up all the way with the app fanspeed.

I will have to agree with jbaker22. Those temperatures are normal. Make sure to not have your exhaust vents blocked and purchase a laptop cooling pad for when your laptop is stationary. Clean out the vents and fans with an air duster at least once a month as they can accumulate heat when full of dust bunnies. Your processor is good for light gaming and editing. It should do just fine with daily tasks like media playback and internet use. Good Luck!
