hi everyone after some advise, bit confused about what's going on exactly at the minute.

system specs
5820k, 4.5ghz oc
x99 sli plus
2400mhz ddr4 corsair
Samsung SSD
980ti with modest over clock
most of the system is under 6 months old.

playing on a 55" 4k Samsung TV

now my issue, most games run absolutely fine, dark souls 3, gta v, skyrim crusts 3 etc, all at native 4k, with nearly constant 60fps.

BUT I'm having 2 big issues with 2 games. witcher 3 is one of them, I average about 45-55fps steadily, but I'm getting massive screen tearing, activating v sync gives ridiculous amounts of input lag.

turned it down to 1080p in game and the tearing got even worse! with or without v sync, running 4k and reduced settings to get nearly 60 constant and still loads of tearing?

the worst case is when navigating the map, every inch the screen moves I'm getting horizontal waves across my screen.

running latest drivers etc

It's your samsung TV. It was never designed for use with gaming. Most times as well you experience huge lag with mouse movements as well. Sometimes these TV also have a mode selection called 'Gaming' which would adjust it's refresh rate to prevent excess screen tearing/mouse lag etc. Either look into that or spend a couple more for a decent gaming Monitor, preferrably with 120hertz and up, good luck!

defiantly not me tv, it's in game mode and the response time is something like 35ms.

besides, if it was my TV then surely it would effect ALL my games, not 2 out of 70+?

bit more info, tried turning down ALL graphics settings to minimum, no improvement, so turned off all the 'post processing' options, ran 10x better, turned up all the main graphics options including foliage to ultra and still runs better.

so something in the post processing seems to be causing it? anyone have similar experiences?
