Try going into the bios and see if you can find dual graphics mode, and make sure it's disabled

Yup - sounds like a BIOS setting issue. What you want to do is find the graphics settings, and change the init order to 'PCIe' to be init'd first, not the IGPU. What it's doing is a specific search order for the GPU (be it integrated or discrete PCIe) - and when it finds the first one, it will use that as the default display.
If you were using an Athlon II without the iGPU, it would default to the first display adapter since the AII doens't have one - and that would be your GTX960. But - because it's finding the Radeon in the APU - it's not looking any further for a more powerful display adapter.
