I am having horrible download speed drops on my wireless network. My desktop connected via wire is getting ~75mbs download & ~10mbs upload, however my phone connect via wifi when standing directly next to the router is getting ~30mbs download & ~10mbs upload. In other parts of my house I am getting ~10mbs download & ~10mbs upload with ~75dbs of noise. I cannot imagine how almost 50% of my download speed is lost just by using wifi with my upload speed completely unaffected.
Data checked at 1:00pm on a Tuesday (Not peak) with no other devices actively using the network. *[ speed was checkes via speedtest.net via desktop and their app on the phone]*

*[Issue might be related to heat damage. Router is warm to the touch when this data was gathered. Was formerly located on top of the pc where output from the excessive amount of fans helped cool it.]*

Various Information:
Isp is Comcast Xfinity
Router is Asus RT-N56u
Modem is Motorola Surfboard
Phone used for checking is LG V10

Network is a 2.4ghz network
802.11n radio
Auto channel is on
Auto channel bandwidth is on
Auto channel extension is on
Qos is off
5-6 other networks in the area all with weak signals

*[Reminded of additional usedful information]* update at 10:35pm 10 May 2016

Do a full reset on your router which should help, it seems to fix my ping in games, to reset it follow these steps:

1. Open the command prompt in windows by doing Windows key + R and typing in cmd, then press enter

2. Type in ipconfig and hit enter

3. find the section that has your reciever and within that find default gateway, most of the time it will look like this '192.168.something.something else'

4. Open your browser and put that ip in the address bar.

5. Some routers might need an admin password (different to login password) first try 'password' (literally) then try 'admin' if that isn't it, it'll be located on the router itself, some routers have a small card with it on.

6. Find restart this wont change any settings, do a speed test (speedtest.net) and if its still bad do a factory reset which will remove all settings and restart it,

Restarting (rebooting in my firmware) has not fixed the issue. I have not attempted a factory restore yet, as I am waiting to see if there are any other options.
