Brand new MB, chassis fan header broken?

Hi everyone, that's the thing:

Asus Maximux VIII Hero, brand new and BIOS updated to latest version (1701).

All the chassis fan controllers are enabled in the BIOS.

All the fans work when plugged in any chassis fan header except n.4

Not a single fan works when plugged in chassis fan header n.4, meaning it doesn't even get detected.

Tell me there's a chance that the answer is NOT "chassis fan 4 header is broken"....

It should be at least detected, in the first place... anyway, you confirm my fear;

now I'm struggling with the solutions... I can't afford (in means of time) a return since I don't have a spare build to work with in the meantime;
I could use a couple of Y-cables to connect 4 fans to 2 of the working headers (I have 2 top fans and 2 front fans, so it's not a big deal if each couple shares a header; I only have to deal with disappointment).
