I am well aware that the GTX1080 isn't even out yet, but I'm sure there is someone that can come up with a proper answer for this question.

I would like to know what CPU would wed well with the upcoming GTX1080 and if possible a proper motherboard to rest them in. I would like to say that money isn't an issue and realistically it's not. I just don't feel the need to spend $1,000+ on a CPU when I could get almost the same performance for cheaper. To sum things up so you don't feel like you are reading through a wall of pointless text, what CPU and motherboard should I purchase along side the new GTX1080 to run anyway game maxed out now and for some time to come.

For additional information I already have the needed RAM, SSD, Power Supply, and water cooling unit for my CPU (H100i).

Thank you for taking your time read this, if you have any further questions please ask.

Just for the fact that I want to go all out, but what about the RAM. Do you think it will hold up or should I get something better like the new G.Skill Trident (32GB)?

You will not see any worthwhile gains upgrading from a 4790k and 16GB of ram (listed) unless you have some specific demand for it (IE heavy 3D rendering and simulations). For gaming and general workloads, the 4790k will be more than enough for you.

So is it even worth upgrading my GPU from a GTX970 to a GTX1080? Again I want to be able to roll over games for now and time to come
