Evening guys !

Few questions. I see I can get GTX970M with 6th Gen i7 CPU for same about of money if I'd get GTX980M but with 4th Gen i7.

So my gaming mind telling me to go with highest possible GPU (GTX980M)and then overclock CPU (If possible). But Geek in me can't justify getting 2 years old (not really 2 but still) CPU and system.

So talking about gaming performance GTX980M with core i7 4th gen or 6th gen ? My Budget is 2K and I am looking at G752VT-DH74 with 6th gen CPU or G751JY-VS71(WX) with 4th Gen CPU.

I do see some 5th Gen CPU Models but for whatever reason all major manufacturers of Gaming laptops never implemented it, something like this GIGABYTE P37Xv4-BW2T comes with 980M and way below my budget. So I am a bit confused with that yet.

And last thing is we're all know GTX1080 is on it's way. Do we know if 1080m or 1070m worth waiting ? I mean do we know when mobile units will be out with them ? I love G752 design from ASUS, anyone know G753 on it's way ?

Thank you all !

Holy cow ,,,,,

I was looking at "Usual" brands and simply couldn't find i7 Gen 6 with 980M for less than 2.2K+ I heard of Sager nothing but good things before but never had experience with them. Never had to fix or "mess" with it. You know design, parts used, warranty, "Fixability and general experience and wear and tear.

Thank you I'll check it out. Anything else I may not think of right now you may recommend ?

They are well built laptops not many issues with them. Most have a couple drive bays etc. Clevo (Sager is just the importer) is actually one of the larger ODM's and not all but a fair chunk of the "gaming" laptops from other brands are actually made by them.

Socketed CPU MXM GPU are both available but that'll push back into the 2K + territory a bit harder to find and personally generally not worth it.

The main thing with these is the reseller. The reseller is key for a good experience. Sager/Clevo has terrible customer service. Instead what you do is find a reseller which lives and dies by customer service (xoticpc is my favorite so far) and they handle all your repairs, warranty, etc.

Parts can be a bit of a pain to find on ebay just for the lack of general knowledge about them.
