Problem connecting newly built pc to internet

I just built my first PC and I've connected the ethernet cable to to my pc from my modem the light is green but it doesn't show any networks avaliable.
Anyway I can connect to the internet?

The only time you'll see "availabilty of networks" is if you're looking to connect wirelessly. With your ethernet cable connected, there's nowhere else it can go other than the network your router creates, because no other choices are available.

Check in device manager to see if the drivers are correctly installed for the network adapter. If you have a connection over ethernet then you will have the screen symbol in the bottom right of the screen.
