Hi everyone, Im looking to add a USB 3.1 card to my PC. I have 3 different cards Im looking at right now and would like some opinions on them so I can purchase them.

ASUS Model USB 3.1 TYPE-A CARD USB 3.1 Dual Type-A PCIe Card

StarTech.com 2 Port USB 3.1

QICENT PU31-2P-BK 10Gbps USB 3.1

I kind of like the 3rd card since my case is black and it would match. The 2nd and 3rd both have 15pin sata connectors as well and the 1st does not. Is there a downside to not having it or does it not really matter? From my understanding its just for power, please correct me if I am wrong. If its not just for power, is it better to go with a card with that connector?

Thanks everyone for the help!

In Asus's defense, the 3rd choice apparently is rendered submissions so the end result can and will vary especially since the manufacturer isn't as reputed as Asus. Asus also tends to design things as minimal as possible so if the power connector isn't on their version, it's because the power from the PCI-E slot is ample for the port's needs.

My vote is with the Asus and they have a robust customer care program whereby they provide as much updates to software/driver revisions as possible. The only thing to note would be to keep in mind that the card has a maximum support for Windows 8.1 while the rest two state their compatibility with Windows 10. How far that is true is yet to be seen since there are a number of devices...
