So I just finished my first computer build. I was excited....yaaay me....then I get to the Bios Screen and my wireless mouse and keyboard do not work.....I just went to 12 stores....yes 12 and none of them have the old school wired mice or keyboard. Thrift stores and all....sooooooo how am I supposed to use my computer?ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Solution
That came with your motherboard. All it is is an extender for USB2.0 (gives you a little extra height to the connector for attaching to the motherboard), you don't have USB2.0 on your case, so it's irrelevant.

You would've also got a similar extender thing (q-connector I believe it's called) for your front panel LEDs to connect to. That one just makes it easier to attach a single, larger connector to the motherboard, opposed to trying to attach 6or8 thin connectors to a single pin.

Wireless can be tricky, some BIOS will accept them with no problems, others either won't work, or it's a bit of a process.

Which 'kind' of Wireless? Bluetooth? That's not gonna work in the BIOS. USB? Where are you attaching the receiver? An onboard port on the back? Or on the case? If you're trying via the front/top of the case, try attaching to the motherboard directly.

Where do you live that you're 0/12 for a wired mouse/keyboard? Are you trying to find a PS/2 mouse/keyboard? That'll be difficult. A wired USB keyboard shouldn't be a problem to find.

I'm in a small town Carrollton, GA. I didn't think even the wired usb mouse would work. I did just find a keyboard that's letting me click through, sort of...I still can't turn my second fan on, but is this something I can exit out of and come back to. I'm new to all this

Ah, so you were looking for a PS/2 keyboard - no need for that these days, a wired USB mouse/keyboard will do just fine.
Again, ensure you attach to the motherboard & not the case, just to be 100% sure.

Not sure what you mean that you can't turn your second fan on? Assuming you're trying to enable in the BIOS? BIOS only controls speed, if your fan is not spinning at all, it's either not connected to the appropriate motherboard header (or at least properly) or there is a defect somewhere.

Posting your full specs will help there.

That's the same board I have, assuming it's the USB3.1 version.
Ensure you attach to a USB 3.0 port (no 2.0 on that board), not the 3.1 which is the more 'teal' colour.
I've had more success with the USB ports nearest the PCIe slots (below your ethernet port), for some reason (the 3.0 below the PS/2 port seemed to be more 'picky')

In his mobo socket will be black.

Very true, if he has the standard Z97-A. The Z97-A were phased out and replaced with the Z97-A/USB3.1 version, making the older one more expensive, so I'd assume chances are good he has the USB3.1, but if it is the 'standard' Z97-A then use the leftmost black, USB2.0 ports:

Wireless? Or Wired now?

Are you talking to the case connectors? Or to the back of the motherboard?

The USB header onboard can be picky during POST/boot, hence case USB 2.0 or 3.0 is not preferred. Try connecting a WIRED USB mouse/keyboard to either the 2.0 (if you have them) or 3.0 on the motherboard itself.

Yeah, you have the same board I do. Are you using the ports furthest to the right as I suggested? Try other ports - the same thing happened to me when I first booted after building (although I have a wired mouse/keyboard, I'm still not sure what you're using)...

So I have the 9 pin adapter, with 9 holes on the other side, but I don't have any cables to connect it to, and on the motherboard there are also 3 open spots that read USB 1314, USB 1112, and USB 910, these are right next to the connectors for power switch, reset, and led. So, maybe that's the problem because the USB 3.0 ports should be backwards compatible

USB 3.0 ports are backwards compatible. The headers on your board that you've listed are incase your case has only front panel USB 2.0 ports (or both, some cases have a combination of 2.0 & 3.0) - that's where you wire those up to. There should be no need for adapters.

The blue one is 3.0 and the black is 2.0

They go to their corresponding headers on the motherboard.

Which case do you have?

If your case has 3.0, connect to the 3.0 header. If your case is limited to 2.0, connect to the 2.0 header.
If your case has both, you wire both up (the connectors will already be attached to the ports on your case, you just route them where they need to go)

I have a NZXT 240 case, and it seems to only have the blue cord above, the black cord is absent, but there is an adapter that looks just like that that has pins..and it says USB, but there is no cord to attach to it
