using bytecc usb 2.0 file transfer hook up

old hard drive (os win xp) trying to transfer to other computer (os win 10). old hdd fires up but nothing opens on other computer so I can copy files. Any suggestions?

Please check if the drive is recognized in Disk Management and Device Manager and post screenshot of what you see there (you can use imgur.com to upload the image). Here's how to access them: How to access Disk Management in Windows to manage hard drives & How to access Device Manager in Windows.

You could also try connecting the drive internally via a standard SATA connection (if it's a SATA drive), to see if it's recognized properly this way.

to Boogieman WD: Your suggestions are good info for me because I always need to learn more. MY problem was resolved by removing jumper on old hard drive making it the slave. When I did this all the files transferred via Bytecc hook-up to computer running win 10. Thank you for your help.
