So should I buy a msi gtx 970 used for 170 euros, or should I wait for pascal to come out and wait for the prices to drop for the 900 series?

will give you the same answer that has been given to the literally 100 other people who have asked this exact same question. no one knows what the can do nor how much they will cost at this point. once we have some benchmarks and some other models to look at, this will be a much better discussion to have.

however if you wish to have it, we already have a nice place set up to discuss this and it has been for days now. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html

this thread will have any and all info as it is released. as soon as benchmarks show up, it'll be updated. once we have an idea what they can do, suggestions will be made for what is worth buying and not.

@Math Geek prices and specs were released last Friday, if I remember correctly the 1070Gtx ref edition will be for 370$. I myself am looking to get rid of my pair of 970's because I speculate a price drop(cant say how much at this time) and on paper the 1070 and 1080 look monstrous for the asking price. My advice to OP, hold on for a bit.

that is only one type of card. there are going to be a ton of custom models like there always is. each will perform differently. each will cost different. each will look different. we have no clue what these cards are gonna do and how they will compare to current cards in single or dual configurations.

so again, like the literally 100 other times today it's been asked, we don't know and won't know for a good bit of time. when we do know, it WILL be posted to the megathread i linked above and then an intelligent discussion can be had over the merits of one way or the other. we are trying to keep the forum free of all these threads asking the same thing over and over. so please take it here http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html and speculate all you want and ask all the what if questions you wish all you want.

thank you :D
