Hey guys!

So my PC has been running a bit slow, so naturally I decided to check task manager to see what's taking up all my CPU.

Well, turns out that it's actually the hard drive running at 100% all the time.

I have tried:
Disabling SuperFetch
Disabling Windows Search
Disabling Antivirus (Avast)
Checking disk for bad sectors with HD Tune Pro
Virus scan
Turning off all notifications

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :D
Thanks

Hi there Spencer993,

Which process seems to be causing this usage? You can check that out in Resource Monitor.

What is your OS?

Also, I have come across cases where the cause for 100% disk usage was caused bu faulty cables. So, it may be a good idea to attach it with different ones.

Let us know how this goes,

Could be a virus. Avast is one of the best but it can't get everything.
Look in resource monitor. It will tell you exactly what process is using the most I/O disk activity. Look under the disk section, and click the total Bytes/Second column to sort it so the most activity is on top.

Thanks for the answers! I found out that this error was due to a broken Windows update that couldn't complete itself for some reason :p After ending the process, we're back down to 5% disk usage :)
