need to fix my sd card!!
hello, have a question. I have an sd card that was in my phone. the issues are that i tried to format it on the phone and it kept saying to format it over and over. I can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I took the sd card out and have been trying to format it that way. I downloaded a few different programs and kept trying the options they posted on how to reformat and what ended up happening was that it turned my card into RAW and then when I try to format it, it says that it is write protected. I do not have the lock switch on so it shouldn't do this. I have been trying to scan the card to get whatever is on there recovered, but after it scans it, I am left with no instructions on how to reformat it. Can you help me please? Thanks

Solution
Sounds like you've got an android phone then, if it has the SD slot.
Use this app to look at the chip data. Make sure your brand on the SD matches the info. If it doesn't, you may have a fake card. Those are known to have many issues, and are usually sold very cheap from china or japan.

If it does match, it seems like you've tried formatting from a PC? If so make sure your micro to full size adapter, if you use one, has the read-only slider off.

Hey there, Wendy_11.

I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, but it really sounds like the memory card might have failed. It's pretty common for flash drives and SD cards to lock themselves up when they fail. However, there's still some hope for you yet. You can try out the suggestions from this article, to see if you'd be able to remove the write protection: http://www.wikihow.com/Disable-Write-Protection.

Hope that helps.
