Long term CPU for MultiTasking, Audio/Video Editing needs

Hello

Which CPU would be best for long term (6 - 7 years) for mutlitasking, dual boot OS'es with Audio/Video basic needs ?

Using blender for Video Editing, Photoshop for photo editing, Ableton Live 8 for Audio Editing.

Linux for the Dual Boot OS.

Personally the biggest intel you can afford, they run faster, but more importantly cooler and at lower voltages which will help with longevity.

It really depends on what you'll be doing, you might want to say what kind of cpu intensive programs you'll be running. I know next to nothing about this so I'm not gonna spout nonsense but some extra info would really help somebody who does know.
