Hi guys, So my new RAM arrived in the post today, I decided to upgrade my 2x4GB sticks and get 2 8GB ones.

When my RAM arrived my PC was on and working fine, I'd just finished playing a session of Forza Apex.

I switched off my PC, took out the old RAM and installed the new sticks. Plugged my PC back in and nothing. The lights on my motherboard light up, but when I press the power button nothing happens.

At first I though it might be an issue with the new RAM, so I took it out and installed the old sticks, but still nothing.

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Thanks :)

Thanks for the help guys, so I tried the sticks in different slots, and I also tried with no RAM at all, but I got the same result.

When I power my PC on, I can see the PSU fan spin for a split second before it cuts out, it's like my PC is protecting itself from a short somewhere.... But I don't understand how I could of caused it by just swapping the RAM.

I've checked all the motherboard connections, and all seem solid.

Thanks for all the help guys, I've tried clearing the CMOS, and I also used this guide http://www.manualslib.com/manual/415084/Asus-Maximus-Iv-Gene-Z-Gen3.html?page=59 to clear the CMOS RTC RAM data. Neither of which had any effect.

I don't think my PSU is to blame, it's a decent make and only 1 year old. Is it possible that when I pushed the new RAM sticks in, that I could of damaged one or some of the stand-off's, and that's what's causing the PC to not power up.

unfortunately, from here i would suggest disassembling the whole thing. taking the motherboard out and placing it on a cardboard box. plug in only essentials (cpu, 24-pin power, 4/8-pin power, no video card (unless you don't have integrated cpu VGA), no ram). try power it up. if you have another known working PSU or can borrow a friends then i would suggest that. could rule out dead PSU that way. if it still doesnt boot then unfortunately you're looking at a new MB or PSU.
