Hello, long time PC gamer here trying to get the most out of my system and need advice upgrading it. I recently got a GTX 960 and am able to run most games but am having trouble with FPS in a lot of games especially MMOs. I'll list my specs.

My mobo is an MSI z1-7641 with an AMD six-core processor, 3500 mhz, 3 cores, 6 log proc

I'm running windows 10 home premium.

GPU: GTX 960

I have proper CPU and GPU cooling both usually running around 30-45 degrees Celsius.

I run dota, league, cs:go, and those games perfectly fine. When I try to play WoW, Cabal, guild wars, or any other MMO my performance greatly struggles and am having around 40-50 fps on low. WoW I can run fine on Medium but meeting the minimum specs for Cabal 2 and Guild Wars my FPS chunks and I've tried every setting available. Any tips? I feel like it is my RAM or CPU that sucks. I have 8 GB ddr3 ram btw. If it is my CPU does anyone have suggestions that are good for mmos. Thank you :D

Solution
It's probably your CPU, yeah.
Haswell Upgrade
--- this cpu is slightly slower than the 6500, but it runs with ddr3 ram so you wouldn't have to buy a new kit.

Skylake Upgrade
This is the most recent intel chipset. It's slightly faster than the i5-4460, and it only runs with ddr4 ram so you'd need to pick up...

It should improve your framerates. I've heard that guild wars 2 to some degree is actually not very well optimized, but nonetheless a CPU with better single core performance should help out. If you wanted to have absolutely perfect framerates you could even go as far as to buying an i7, but that'd cost you at least $400 for the cpu + motherboard.
