Hey guys, so I recently built my friend a new pc.

I used...

Mb - Gigabyte Z97X-SLI
PSU - EVGA Supernova 750w Gold
CPU - I5 4690k
GPU - 380x Nitro.

Anyways, I CANT get the gpu fans to not spin at 100% msi afterburner and catalyst both show the fans at 3k rpms but only 20% speed.

I've tried everything short of a bios wipe on the mobo, even plugged in an old 5770, same issue, as soon as the bios flashes the fan spins to max rpm and sits there.

Gah that sucks :( Building something for your buddy and have it act like that. You could always try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, or trying a different Driver. Chances are it's a faulty GPU.

You may wish to try putting your GPU in someone elses PC to test if it is the GPU/Mobo with the issue

if that and the bios reset doesn't work all i can think of is sending it back if its under warranty. Or if you are any good at soldering trying to solder in a variable resistor on the fan.

I tried out the GPU on another PC, as odd as it is It seems the old HD 5770 and the r9 380x BOTH had bad fan controllers, plugged the 380x into my personal tower, same issue. So will be RMA'ing the card :/
