Would a Dedicated Gpu Turn my apu into a reg cpu

I was planning on buying a dedicated gpu for my gaming pc that ive had for 2 years now.I was planning on adding a gtx 750 ti and i was wondering if that would make my a10 7870k function as a reg cpu since it isnt working on graphics?

Well your APU has always functioned as a CPU, now with a GPU, the GPU portion of the APU is going to go unused. As far as the CPU portion of the APU, it will function as it always has. The only thing you may notice is that your temperature may be lower when doing graphically intensive tasks as the on-die GPU will no longer be generating any heat.
