Have a choice between 120GB SSD or 500GB HDD

So, the HDD in my computer is about 7 years old now (Computer is newer but HDD failed so the one in the laptop is a PS3 HDD) and only 250GB with a paltry write speed of 20MB/s which is pretty slow since im playing games like GTA V.

I am on a budget of <2400php (~$50) and have a choice between buying a 500GB Toshiba HDD (Generic model. Nothing special and maybe 80MB/s write speed) or an SSD. Most SSD's I've seen in that price range are 120GB in size and are budget SSD's, which isn't a problem cause it's probably still significantly faster than my current HDD. I have 2x 1TB eHDD that i use for mass storage and archiving, so space isn't actually a major concern, but it still plays a role since ill be installing some stuff on the laptop. The largest game i have is GTA V at 70GB so it it can fit that and windows with no problem, then everything else should be fine.

These are the current SSD's ive seen in my price range:
Transcend SSD370 (120GB)
OCZ Trion 150 (120GB)
Kingston Fury (120GB)
Patriot Blast (120GB)

I'm not looking for anything exceptional, just something that is faster than the HDD option.

So what would be more useful, the 500GB HDD or an 120GB SSD?

If the SSD, which is better in that price range?

Are there any other good SSD in that price range or any 240GB SSD for ~$50-60?

As i said before, i have 2TB of HDD capacity externally that i use for holding my movie/games installer collection, so this Drive is primarily for stuff ill be installing in my laptop. I usually only install 1-2 games at a time, but with GTA V, it will prob be only that one for the meantime. I just want it to also fit windows 10 and some small apps as well, so i assume 120GB might cut it especially if i use NTFS compression. It's the speed boost of the SSD that is making me considering getting it over a HDD 4x larger in capacity for the same price range.

So what is your opinion?

If you can suggest a larger SSD with performance still a lot better than 30MB/s Write speed of the HDD, for $50-60, then I'll definitely choose that.

Also, I've heard some poor things about the Kingston SSDNow v300 which is why i didn't include it.

On a final note, I live In the Philippines so if the SSD's are only available in USA/europe etc, I'm out of luck. Also, I cannot buy it from online either due to certain issues.

Any suggestions please?

Additional Info:
Installing 64-bit Windows 10
GTA V is the largest game i have so if it fits that, my others can fit too (Not at the same time though)
4-8GB page file.
SATA 3
Also, it's a laptop.

SSD for speed, virtually any would be faster than any HDD many times over even with SATA2 controller. That's even more exaggerated by inherently low laptop's HDD speeds.
HDD for storage size, better GB/money deal.
I have no problems with Kingston V300 SSD, it's not blazing fast but still much better than any HDD.
Check prices too, some 240GB SSDs are very close to 120GB. for few % more, you get double size.

Do you have any suggestions for those 240GB SSD's?

Edit: The thing that I'm concerned about with the Kingston V300 is the reports that they apparently changed the NAND flash modules to a different manufacturer which resulted in dramatically reduced R/W speeds, and then sold it off under the guise of a firmware update. If i do get a V300, how could i tell the difference between the Original ones and the slowed down versions of it...
