Replace CPU/MoBo or switch to water-cooled??

My WHEA error messages occur more frequently now in and outside of games... I think it has something to do with memory, because it also happens when I'm saving a large file. I don't know what the problem could be because I have 16 gigs of 2400mhz G.skill Ram (underclocked to 2133 by mobo), a 6 gig 980 Ti (stock settings), and a 2500k i5 which peaks at 4.5 Ghz before becoming unstable. I have 2 SSD 500 GB drives, both which are less than 3/4's full, a hybrid 1 TB drive I use for saves and media, and a PnP 1 TB drive that I primarily use for backup. This is all on an Asus z77 Gene V mobo with a 1000w eco modular power supply.

My current cooling setup is with having both side panels removed, most fans are on high-blast a good majority of the time, and I have a CM Hyper D92 push-pull air cooler on my CPU. I know the temps on my graphics card and my cpu tend to spike rather fast in memory hogging games (like FO4 and Sim 3), pushing 90 on both even with fan speeds are at max - only tends to happen during saves or when loading a lot of high-res textures - and crashes/reboots 70% of the time when that happens.

Gaming has become a chore, not fun anymore, and I dread even throwing anything task worthy at this computer such as photo-editing or video-editing. I'm not on the net while I game, so it's not that. I'm thinking either my cpu/mobo is nearing its final days or one of the newer components (everything else is under a year or 2) has become faulty.

So do I get a new motherboard and CPU (and have to fork out money for software - unless there's a way to transfer my current W10 license over) - which will have to be another 1155 chipset or 1150 to be compatible with my RAM. OR do I try water-cooling this rig (I'd probably do an AIO for CPU and void warranty on my GPU in order to get an AIO on that as well - I am clumsy and would definitely ruin my machine with a custom kit) and hope that fixes the problem? Which is more cost-effective?

My reasoning for sticking with the 2500k is because of the potential to clock it at 5.0 with the right cooling in place, and sticking with the board because of not wanting to purchase a new OS. But if the price is about the same or less in replacing them than it is in water-cooling, I'll suck it up and go for a 4790k and another asus board (or whatever board is on sale and has some future-proofing). Please help me make up my mind before my machine goes kaput??

Then there may be a problem with mobo then .Im not sure .If you have any other mobo try with that .

I think there is no need to upgrade your 15 2500k bcoz it performs well for few years .Even comparing with 4690k , 2500k is slightly slower than the 4690k. So get a decent water cooling loop and you will be fine for gaming

You think my CPU is still good? I forgot to add that sometimes when my computer goes into sleep mode, it'll restart when I try to take it out of it. Sometimes it will start up and then shut down and I typically have to unplug the PSU and wait for the light to go off, plug it back in and then it starts up just fine with no error codes. It won't start if I don't do that.
