hey chaps having a bit of an issue, started randomly a week or two ago.

pc specs.

5820k, x99 sli plus, Samsung SSD and seagate HDD, msi 980ti, corsair ddr4 2400mhz ram.

win 10 pro 64 bit.

now my problem, when launching ANY game, the screen flickers from grey, to black, back to grey, about 6 times, last approx 2-3 seconds and then all is normal.

when loading up windows from turning the pc on, I get a single grey flicker.

when alt+tab or Windows key'ing to desktop from a game it flickers grey and black a couple times both when minimizing and when reentering the game.

things I've tried.

DDU with fresh driver install, now running 362 that used to work for me.

reinstalled cleanly win 10.

using over clock and using stock settings for both gpu and cpu.

50/50 after the games load it will instantly freeze, with sound still playing then about 10 seconds later crash to desktop, but if it works, then I can play for hours problem free. mostly at 60fps.

cpu temp are 45c, gpu temp are 72c when gaming.

4k tv, tried running both 4k native desktop and game res, and using 1080p with TV up scaling the image, neither makes a difference.

pulling my hair out on this, tried 3 sets of video drivers, already did windows clean install, all hardware is less than 6 months old and in good condition otherwise.

help me!

Solution
what readings you have on power in hwinfo then it could also be the hdd or the ssd with that did you memtest ram to confirm they are good .

using a h110i water cooler for cpu, 45 is when I'm gaming. with a 4.4ghz OC.

HDD doesn't make any difference, that literally just stores some games.

psu is a 850w eva g gold rated. 3 months old

a few games are on SSD, mainly my newest and most demanding titles. others are on my HDD .

no way of checking my gpu in another PC, so not an option, I'm fairly certain it's not that as it manages to play games for 8hours solid without a single hitch

my issue isn't temperature related, it happens even when the pc is first started up and cold, or when it's been on for 2 days plus. all my temps are quite low as I have 9 high powered fans in my computer, 4 are manual mobo controlled and the rest are manual.
