So installed a new evga 750w G2 PSU and after installing everything seemed fine until i logged on and realized that the BIOS wasn't detecting my HDD and CD/DVD at all but it could detect my Samsung SSD. Could i have possibly shorted them while putting in the new cables or could they have already been dead due to the previous bad power supply (CX750m).

Hey there, gigga101.

It's difficult to determine what could be the issue without doing some testing. I'd recommend that you give them a try with different SATA ports and different cables, to see if the same thing happens. It would be even better if you have access to another computer in order to try them out with it. Make sure that you've properly seated the cables and check if the HDD spins up (if you can hear it or feel it vibrate when you turn on the computer), to see if it's powered up.

Please let me know how it goes.

Im having the same issue. I got the 850w instead of the 750. My hdd and OD are less than 5 months old. Everything is properly hooked up but its not getting power. My OD turns on long enough for me to get it to open and then it shuts off.
