My Sd won't work

My memory card gets recognized in my laptop and I moved a lot of very important files into it, but after some time, I open it and there are no files which I can see even though it says 17 gb has been already used in it

I kindly ask for your help please

check for hidden files and folders...

also...use some 3rd party to check for a visual...

1 – Press the Windows+S key combination to open the “Search” box.

2 – Type folder into the Search box, then select Folder Options from the list of search results. The “Folder Options” window should open.

3 – Select the View tab.

4 – Under “Advanced Settings”, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives.

5 – Click Apply, then click Ok.

use m3datarecovery to recover the files first...

this is one of the best softwares out there... http://www.m3datarecovery.com/
but you need to get hold of the full version...

this is a step by step instruction... http://www.m3datarecovery.com/data-recovery/online-help...

the method you should be looking for is..."How to recover deleted or lost partition?"....
it is towards the middle of the instruction page...

once that has been done, clean format the sd through cmd...

I installed m3datarecovery and I was allowed to only recover 1 GB worth of files, but after I recovered that 1GB worth of space, there were folders named gif graphic file, video audio graphic file, jpeg graphic file,etc. and videos, mp3's and gifs but they could'nt be opened

u can recover everything with the full version...
when u r opening them, are u getting any error messeage???

When I opened the file it says the image cannot be viewed or the video can't be played, I usually don't buy stuff online so is there an alternative

well...if m3 cudnt recover the files...thn its not a gud sign...
the only othr option now is to try to rebuild the mbr...and hope tht it works...
u shd be able to do tht thru the software itself...

right click on the drive and select properties...go to "Tools" and click on "Check Now"...then tick mark both the check boxes and execute...
alternatively...open cmd at elevated level and execute this command on the target disk... chkdsk /r/f

i did the cmd command and it said the type of file is exFAT, it also said chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process, chkdsk will run if that volume is dismounted 1st, all open handles to this volume would then be invalid, so it asked if I would dismount this volume, should I?

I also clicked check from tools in da properties of the drive and it said there are no errors

So what should I do now?

well...honestly, i am out of my wits now...we have exhausted all possible types of soft fixes here...
if the data is tht important, u shd consider some professional services maybe...
i donno wat else to suggest u...
