Hey everyone! Im just posting on here to get some other points of view and opinions, as well as to see if ive missed anything in my research into the components of my soon-to-be gaming rig. Look it over and tell me if you think a component could be swapped out for somethng better (preferably for something else in a similar price range) or if there are any incompatibilities ive missed. Thanks,

Motherboard: Asus z170 deluxe
CPU: Intel i7-6700k
Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
PSU: Evga Supernova 850 P2
RAM: Corsair vengeance lpx 4x4GB 3000mhz DDR4
GPU: nVidia Geforce gtx 980 ti from Zotac (gtx 1080, depending on independent reviews and benchmarks of the founders edition)
OS drive: Samsung 950 Pro 256GB m.2 pcie
OS: Windows 7 home 64 bit
Data drives: One Samsung 850 Evo 1TB SSD, Two Western Digital black 4TB HDDs

Any feedback would be appreciated!

4x4GB kit is unnecessary. Unless you just want to fill all the slots, 2x8GB is easier on the memory controller and allows for expansion.

Noctua NH-D14 has a habit of covering the first PCI slot and interfering with memory modules. Recommendation for today would be the Noctua NH-D15s.

850W Platinum supply is a bit overkill for a single GPU system. There are cheaper power supplies you could get. Even a similar 750W model.

Windows 7 is a personal choice, but I would aim for Windows 10 as a gamer for DX12 goodness.

Get windows ten instead as you'll be forced to get onto windows 10 anyway and instead of that 4x4Gb sticks get 2x8Gb ram sticks its way better speaking interms of future expansion.

Everything else is neat but for the power supply try to go with a EVGA G2 instead of p2, G2 are slightly better.

Overclocked Skylake ~=150W
SSD in full write, about 7W.
HDD in full write, about 10W
980Ti = 250W stock, overclocked could push it a little, but you will hit the 1500Mhz wall before power becomes an issue. A 1080 is supposedly rated at 180W.

A big pile of fans might take 100W depending on the model.

Thanks for the answers, guys! I'll get 2x8gb sticks, and ill get the 850 g2 psu. But! If I'm only getting two sticks of RAM, i think i'll go with the nh-d15 rather than the d15s.
Keep the advice rolling in!
