How do I know if my system will be able to support one of these cards.
My only real current reason to upgrade is I need 2x DP 1.2 or higher ports, to run 2 4K screens at 3840 x 2160 at 60Hz.

My Current card a MSI GTX 970 Gaming G4 works beautifully with one screen, but I want one screen In Portrait and one in Landscape - so I can switch between the 2 to edit photos.

What is the important factor important the Mother board, CPU, Ram etc. or is it just a PCIe card?
My stuff:-
SM X10SRA-O MB 40 Lanes, 4 Channel Memory
EVGA 1200w Plat. PSU
32GB Samsung ECC RAM 2133.
2 x16 Gen 3 PCIe x16 electrical PCIe slots available
8x 140mm Noctua Fans
Intel Xeon E5 1650 V3 CPU 6 cores 12 threads

Does anyone know if the GTX 1070 would have 2x DP 1.2 connectors?

Or do you think when these come out will the MSI GTX 980ti halve in price [bang for buck it should]. As one of these would work fine for me.

Solution
Your system should run the 1070 with no issues. About the ports on it, that can vary from vendor to vendor but I'm sure there will be many cards with dual display port connections. Since you can't buy the card till it's out, what is wrong with waiting till they are out and then see what they have?

Same thing for pricing on the older cards. Wait and see. I doubt the price will drop by half on the cards, maybe used ones but even that is not likely.

Thanks
I will wait, and yes I checked the soecs of the GTX 970 on Nvidia and it had 2 DP 1.2 connections but my MSI varient just came with one. Lesson learnt on GPUs read the tech spec in detail. In fairness I never thought I would go dual monitor - just my workflow could use it.

For non-gaming setups, dual monitors are amazing. Even if you do something silly like having a music player up on one screen while doing work on another. Not having to toggle windows to see them all the time is hugely time-saving. This actually reminds me that I should setup my system at home with a second monitor, every time I'm home I try to move windows to a second monitor like at work and remember I can't LOL

Initially going from 17" 1920x1080p to the 4K seemed like a dream, but as I Mainly 90% of the time edit pics, its a massive bonus not having to constantly zoom in say to repair / whiten eyes and teeth. But it only really works in Portrait mode as in Landscape the face is just oo small unless its pure head shot.

My plan was to swivel the monitor but ... Youd be repairing the cable connectors with these very robust thick HP cables ( which is good ).

As one may have 800 images in a day, selecting the best means pretty much zooming in on the face to make sure the whole thing is good.
So having portrait and Landscape will save hours. Lol
