I recently bought a gigabyte GTX 960 4gb windforce 2x oc and while playing witcher 3 and Assasin's creed rogue the dialogue got cut and the game froze. i was able to hear the enviromental sounds and the saving icon was still moving. after a minute or so the game came back.

other games i've yet to test like GTA V, Metal Gear Solid V, ect.

My specs: CPU: i5 4690K
GPU: gigabyte GTX 960 4gb windforce 2x oc
RAM: Hyper X fury blue DDR3 1866MHZ 1x8GB
MOBA:Asus B85m-e
HDD: Western Digital WD10-EZEX
PSU: Codegen 400x 450W

now my main suspect is the psu but i was unable to find information about this specific psu or i was just blind :S.
In battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, Star Wars Battlefront (all on ultra settings) had no problems. all three run smoothly above 60 fps. on the other hand, Witcher 3 run at fix 60 (optimized with Geforce Experience) (sometimes a little drops because of loading)but it instantly froze when the gpu lost power.

If the psu is the faulty one then please suggest me a cheap neat one that can fit into a micro atx case

many thanks.

Off course it will reduce freezing as it is reducing the load, but still that crapy PSU won't be able to handle 960 and i5, have a look in these- EVGA 750W 80+ Bronze (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-110b20750vr)
SeaSonic 620W 80+ Bronze (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii620bronze)

Both are good for ur build, Seasonic may be a bit costly but its better. But still u go for whichever u like. Hope that Helps.

The PSU is not faulty its unable to handle the load, this is basically not a psu where u should run gtx 960, and above all u should use a 500w to be on a safer side. There are many great psu's which can cost a bomb. What's ur budget?

well below 60$
but i turned off intel virtualization technology and for some reason the freezing reduced to 1-2 times in a few hours of gameplay

what can you say about these? http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100w10500kr

i literally know nothing about max power output and rails and what that means. well only a little bit that is common sense

How sure are you that the card lost power? Did you check with a prog like Gpu-z?
Assassins creed games are notoriously badly coded.
Is it an effect like this one?Completely down to coding not faulty hardware.

yes i checked it with oc guru and while in game the power was around 70%. when it froze it went down to 10% or below

Power is the watt the card draws, this should not drop, if you mean GPU load, how hard it is running, then look at the video the same thing is happening goes from 70% down to 4%
