Ok so I am doing my first power on self test and it turns on. It goes into the bios, I see it sees my 8 gab if ram and all three drives. I also notice lights flashing. Btw I do not have my gpu connected yet, just using on board video. So I do nothing but just save and exit. Then it goes right back into the bios and never gets to the no operating system screen. I then tried to turn it off by the power button on the case but it did not work, had to flip the switch on the psu. My motherboard is a h170 asus pro gaming board. All the fans are spinning including the CPU fan and the system does recognize the CPU. What is going on?

Solution
have you gone into the bios and set your boot options yet? like i said you want to make sure the computer is set to boot from OS media first.

if this doesnt help, you need to go into your bios and sift through the boot options. you want to make the computer is trying to boot from USB/CD/DVD drive (whichever media you are using to install your OS-operating system). but i do suggest keeping all drives unplugged aside from your boot drive until you get windows installed

Ok so I disconnected all the drives except the one that I want the OS on. I am pretty sure the panal connectors are on right because when I press the power button, I see a light and when I try the reset button, it works also. I still can't get to the no os screen. I looked at the motherboard manual and it says lights are flashing because it us on breathing mode, it shows how to change it in the bios so it does not blink and is called still mode. Is there an advantage to one of them? I do notice how when the lights are flashing, the other fans stay spinning but the CPU fan seems like it is shutting down when the lights get dimmed and then when the lights are bright, the CPU fan spins like normal. Idk if that is suppose to happen but anyways I still can't get to no is found screen. Do I have to make a change in the bios maybe? Idk.

Almost for got about this thread cause I got it working. I just had to put in the install disk into my dvd drive and it worked, went pass bios screen. I guess the person who designed this board has it set to where if no OS is there, it will just always go to the bios. The computer has an OS now and never goes to the bios unless I tell it to, so no more problems.

Well all the videos I watched and all the old junk PC I worked on over the years, if no OS, always just said no OS found error and never just went into the bios. So I never knew this was a new thing. That is one of the reasons I build this gaming rig, to learn things about current technologies. And to game of course.
