bios confusion please help

hi any help will be very appreciated, i have a HP compaq pro 4300 with bios pat_811v8.11, and i am trying to install a graphics card. when i insert the card, firstly, i dont get any picture from it, as it is not installed. so i switched back to my igpu which is now disabled due to a card been registered. so i look in my bios settings, to force my pc to load the igpu 1st. however, i am unable to find the settings on this bios, there is some that are to dis/enable each pci slot, and there are others in the advance that i dont understand. on another pc that i have had the gpu working on it was just a case if selecting onbaord as init display but on the newer pc that i am updating there is no such option or i dont understand it. the advance options that im wondering about are as follows; onboard device - serial port a IO=3F8H IRQ4 (with other options but i do not no what this means) the next bus options - pci SERR# Generation and pci vga palette snooping which again no idea and parrellel port epp+ecp can change to output only and bi-direction as i say i have had this working on an older PC i have all the drivers and i kind of no what i am doing the kind of being these things that i dont understand in my bios settings
