I have recently upgraded my system to i7 6700k and trident 3400mhz ram with a Asus z170a mobo. Before I had a gigabyte z170 hd3 which blew up when I changed my ram setting to XMP. I'm a noob and I'm afraid that changing XMP on Asus z170a would blow it up again is there a way to normally change my ram setting to where it suppose to act ? At 3400mhz?

Just set it to xmp. You will be fine. Alternatively you can manually set timings in the bios (physically on the ram as four number sequence).

And I'm pretty sure the gigabyte is fine as well. You may just need to reset the cmos by removing the jumper for a minute.
