I am buying a new PC, but with a tight budget i am buying different parts spread out over time. Should i use this while im waiting for a better CPU to come?

Solution

Its actually pretty simple:

Some people just cant save money without spending, and cant commit to the goal (the goal being a PC build).
But if they spend their money one part at a time, they wont be wasting them on other crap, and it will force them to follow through and commit because if you have say CPU, GPU, and RAM, you will get the Mobo as well since you cant use these without a mobo.

I am not saying the OP is like that, but I know people in real life that are like that, so it...

Use it for what? Can you specify?

Sure you can use an old Core 2 Duo for office applications, internet browsing, music etc.
But gaming? No of course not.

It depends on what you want to do, and what your other PC specs are.

1) what are you suing this for?
2) what kind off pc are you buying
3) NEVER EVER EVER EVER BUY PC PARTS OVER TIME
These will just get cheaper and by the time you finally build a computer something better has launched for the same price and you won't be getting the best value for your money.

I agree with jaslion. It is always a bad idea, unless there is absolutely no other choice.
But I think you should be able to save money, until you have a budget large enough to buy the parts you want, for the build that you want.

I actually never get why people buy computer parts over time is there any difference between buying now or later with the exact same budget? If you need lets say 6 months to get 1000$. Why not wait 6 months if you will be spending that money anyway.
