Hi. I'm going to upgrading to a i7 6700K and an Asus Z170A in the summer. However, both my headset and mouse use usb 2.0, and there are only two usb 2.0 ports on the motherboard. I am also going to be upgrading my keyboard to a K70. Reviewers on YouTube say that you can use the keyboard only with one usb 3.0 port, and to leave the other usb not in use (LinusTechTips). I would like to just check that you can use a K70 just with a USB in a 3.0 port as on the website it only says compatibility with usb 2.0.
Thanks

USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and vice versa. The only difference you'll see is speeds. USB 3.0 has 9 pins (if i'm not mistaken) USB 2.0 only has 4. So you can plug in a USB 2.0 into a USB 3.0 jack without any problems, OR, you can plug in a USB 3.0 flash drive (for example) into a USB 2.0 jack, and you won't have any problems. Only difference will be speeds. USB 2.0 is slower than USB 3.0 . I own a K70 too, this is the deal; if you're gonna plug in the keyboard to a USB 2.0 port you need to connect both cables so that enough power is supplied to the keyboard. However, when you connect it to a USB 3.0 port, you only need to plug in 1 cable because USB 3.0 can supply more power through one port. (Note, it has to be one...
