CPU Water Cooling suggestions

Hey guys. I was wondering what you would all suggest in terms of water cooling just my CPU. I made a thread a while back, a week ago or so about adding my GPU to the loop as well.
For now I don't need my GPU water cooled, and I can always add it to the loop later. So, anyway, I was wondering if this kit would do the job?

Here are my PC specs. I have not water cooled before, but I have done a lot of reading on it. I am just wanting feedback at this point. Thanks guys. c:

I have already built the PC!! I just want suggestions about water cooling. Thank you!

I'll give you what I got and my choices were backed by hours upon hours of research but even still, I am not to blame if you are not happy with anything you get.

  • CPU Block: EK-Supremacy MX - Premium Performance, not fancy looking, great price

Radiator: Nemesis 280 GTS/GTX - the difference between GTS and GTX is where the in- and outlets are placed. Look it up, helps you keep it tidy

Fans: Phanteks PH-F140SP - I went with them because I got a Phanteks case that alrady had 3 of them stock. But they are amazing in terms of noise&performance

Reservoir: Alphacool Cape Corp Coolplex Pro 10 LT - really, a plastic bottle would do but wouldn't look as neat

Pump: EK Water Blocks EK-DCP 4.0 - unhearable, yet very powerful

    Tube: Alphacool...

For just a CPU? Yes. You could also go Swiftech H220 X2 or H240 X2 for a little less money. That would be my recommendation. I'm currently doing testing on the 220 X2 and it's a great cooler for the price.

If you're not going to expand in the future and only stick with CPU, it's a good route to go, and even if you did include the GPU, you could add-on with little difficulty.

I do plan on adding on. So with add on ability, would the one you suggested work? Or should I stick with the one I have currently selected?

Thank you for the help C:

I built the PC over a year ago. I want to add water cooling.

Thank you though. :3

No worries! I should have said that in the original thread. I just posted it here so people would see it. I am not upset. If I was building it right now, that feedback would be very appreciated.

Sorry if I came across as impatient. c;

No worries, and going back to water cooling - expandability comes expensive. I had similar "problem" to yours and decided to go full custom in the end.
For example - the AIO you listed comes at around 300 Euros whereas when I went full custom I ended with ~440, that includes: CPU+GPU Block, 2x 280 Radiators, pump, small reservoir, extra fans, fittings and a hose. All high quality.

When you'll want to expand yours it's at least 200 extra. You'll need a 2nd radiator(unless you don't OC at all), GPU block, fittings and extra hose.

If you want to just cool your CPU, go with a Ain1 AIO like the Enermax Liqmax II 120/240 which comes at around $70-80. They have excellent reviews and are really affordable with the downside of no expandability.
There are expandable, cheap, AIOs like the Raijintek Triton but I am having doubts that the pump is strong enough for a CPU+GPU setup. Just cooling a CPU with it still gives excellent results, though.

So yeah, sorry if I am repeating something someone already said - I did not go trough every post in the thread.

Good luck!

EDIT: you can get the Enermax 120 for just $50 with the Mail in Rebate at newegg atm. click

So, you're saying if I want to go fully custom in the future, the kit I originally selected could do it (if I added another rad and fans)?

Yes, the included pump is strong enough, but it is less cost-efficient.

I cannot speak of the kits quality, though, so be sure to read at least a few different reviews before purchase.

EDIT: Remember to build your loop in a way that it can be easily emptied and reopened so adding a GPU isn't too much of a hassle.

I've watched enough of Jayztwocents to know you need an easy access point to drain it. ;P

Thanks for the info. ;)

Looking at the nature of your kit I'd go full custom anyway. All they did was take different parts from the storage room and throw it into a box. Pros: you don't need to look for parts. Cons: you cannot pick parts yourself.

To be honest, there is not much going for in your kit. If I were to pick a kit, and not go full custom, I'd go with a "plug&play" one. Since you do not seem to be too worried about the cost the EK-XLC Predator 240 (incl.QDC) is supposedly very silent, has very good thermal performance, and is expandable. It is also a tad cheaper than the XSPC kit.

Not to mention that the quick disconnect is AMAZING considering that you can open the loop w/o draining it. The "downside" is that you can only expand it with further EK stuff, if that's a downside at all.

EDIT: I'd not go with the XSPC D5 kit. Super overpriced IMO. It costs more than my custom loop w/o GPU.

Alrighty. Could you tell me the different parts of the kit that I would need?

I know I need:
Pump
Res
Rad
Tubing
CPU block
Fans

Am I missing anything?

Tube: Alphacool AlphaTube HF, 13/10mm, 3m, clear - really, just get any tube from a renowned manufacturer

Fittings: EK-ACF G1/4" 10/13mm, black - now these are fairly expensive($5 a piece, there are more expensive ones still) so if you want something cheaper look for barb fittings, they usually got for about a half of the compression fitting price

Coolant: I went with a custom mix but all you need is distilled water and PT-Nuke so nothing starts to grow inside your system.

Thank you for the help, man. Really appreciate it. ;))

I wont be doing these upgrades until late June, but I wanted to figure it out early.

Update:

This system you suggested would support adding another RAD and GPU support down the road, right?
