Hey there, I'm going to be building a PC soon, and I'm pretty much stumped on what colors to make it. It'll be a build that looks a bit like this.. but with different colors (which is why this post exists) and a different CPU block.

I've been looking just about all day at different parts in different colors and the like, and have pretty much created a mental database of different builds for each color. (ex. for SSDs, Mushkin Reactor for green, Patriot Blast for yellow, and Kingston Savage for red)

Anyways, the colors i'm thinking about using are as follows: plain ol' red, orange/yellow, green/yellow, and just yellow or just green.

It would help if you could post your opinion on this, and thanks for your time!

(also, i'm not looking for any tips, suggestions, or build help!)

Solution
Orange and yellow sounds pretty good looking, and not many people do it.
If you get a proper lighting kit you can dim the lights for a nice undertone effect.

I personally want to do a build with one of ASUS' Sabertooth boards (the arctic camo ones)
In my personal opinion red and green are very overdone. While everything is up to personal taste in the end, everyone does red.
My system is blue (because blue makes it run cooler, obviously).
I would probably get neutral looking components (Black motherboard, plainish graphics cards, etc) and get an RGB lighting kit.

I totally agree with that, and yeah, thats my plan. I plan to go with something like the EVGA Stinger, and the GPU will be watercooled with a black block, Dominator Platinum for memory, and so on. The only thing I personally don't like is overpowering lighting. The most I'm probably going to do as for lighting is Thermaltake Riing fans (this one has red LEDs http://pcpartpicker.com/part/thermaltake-case-fan-clf038pl12rea).

My ideal look is something along the lines of a clean, beautiful, with minimal lighting, brushed aluminum, and neutral colors with the exception of occasional highlights (fans, cables, SSDs, various water cooling parts).

Overall, I'm personally leaning towards a balance of orange and yellow. Opinion?

Lighting kits are very useful ^ you can also look into case mods that people have done. You can paint some of the insides of your case to fit your needs. If you're looking for components that match the rest of your build, I would go take a look at the Avexir Core Series (for RAM)--they very pretty. Personally, I would go orange/yellow.

As I said in my other message, I'd rather not use brighter or overpowering LEDs, and the only problem I see with that memory is that it's DDR3. And I forgot about modding/painting, I could definitely use that, thanks for the idea! :)

Just eh, pretend like I chose both of you as the answer. I like both suggestions and didn't think about dimming the lights.

(I totally didn't accidentally press "Pick as Solution")

You didn't look hard enough :p

But I see the point about them being pretty bright. Personally, that's what I'll be going for in my next build, but I can see 2-4 blaring LEDs throwing off the build vibe if the rest of it doesn't fit it.

If you're interested in the case modding, just go do a quick google search of what you're thinking about. Some of the stuff people have done is crazy.
