I have a intel core i3 530 on a gigabyte H55-S2V and had 2GB RAM @ 1333MHz., until I decided to upgrade it with a 8GB stick @ 1600MHZ. Now the computer won't boot. It will boot normally with the 2GB stick.

I understand that i3 530 doesn't support memory bandwidth of 1600MHz. Could this be the reason for my problem.?

Also the Gigabyte H55-S2V support maximum of 8GB. does it support 8GB only by a 2x4GB kit?

Please help me solve this?

Solution
Yes. Check that the 2 x 4 GB kit you are wanting is compatible by using memory manufacturers website memory compatibility search engine before buying any 2 x 4 GB kit.
It appears that the system supports up to a maximum of 8 GB in total. So 2 x 4 GB kit would be the maximum capability.

The issue is most likely due to the higher density memory chips being used on the 8 GB module, the chips used on there are most likely 4 Gb, whereas the known supported memory density for this system is up to 2 Gb memory chip density only.

do you mean that my system support 8GB memory only at 2x4GB config. so getting 2x4GB would fix the problem?
