I thought that Pascal was supposed to be HBM 2.0?

That was the rumor, but looks like it was just that. It sounds like we will see HBM2 with the Pascal GP100 gpus, so the Titan and possibly the 1080Ti.

I thought the main difference between HBM 1 and 2 what the memory limit not the speed. It does have double the throughput though 128 bit vs 256 so I guess it is faster because of the throughput. But, I just don't know enough about it to say for sure. I would love to know what the speed differences are.
Any ways getting back to your question see the article below. It is coming just have to wait. We will probably see it in the new Titan (?) which will probably use more memory than the upper limit of HBM 1.0 and will require the HBM 2.0.

Maybe in memory throughput if the Ti is utilizing HBM but that probably won't translate into twice the framerate the card can produce.

Some of Pascal product will use HBM2. nvidia never said that all pascal line up will use HBM2. And it is even possible that geforce variant will not get HBM2 at all. But what's more important is if HBM can actually lead to significant performance advantage. to me the most important metric is real world performance not the type of memory use on the card.
