First, the computer was working until we put a new graphics card in it (MSI GTX 970). It previously had a GTX 650 Ti Boost. The computer stopped booting after putting the new graphics card in it and still would not boot after going back to the old graphics card. Since then we have tested the power supply and the motherboard (by changing the parts to new ones). The few times we got it to turn on it would give WDF_Violation error, restart, then boot normally. Now we cannot get it to boot again. It turns off after about 7-10 seconds (no POST). We have tried reseating everything and nothing seems to be working at this point. I can't remember what I did to get it to turn on the couple of times that it did.

Operating System: Windows 10
Motherboard: Asus Z77-A
Graphics card: MSI GTX 970
Processor: i5 4670k
RAM: 16 GB Hyper X Fury
Power Supply 650 watt (not sure of brand ATM)

I'm not sure what I am missing, but any help would be appreciated.

My first guess is that probably the CPU/Heatsink combo is not seated properly and is therefore, over-heating.. If I were you, I'd take down all components. reseat the CPU/Heat-sink by cleaning them out and re-applying thermal paste.. Reseat all RAM sticks, all HDD & GPU connections -- re-check all motherboard connectors to be doubly sure..

A dude once had this problem, where his/her PC was turning off as soon as they turned it on.. A detailed inspection revealed that the CPU power connector was not plugged in and the PC was turning off detecting a missing CPU..

I think this is a minor issue, which you should be able to solve quickly..

Best wishes, :))

When this started, it was a Foxconn, stock HP motherboard (I meant to update the initial post with this information), we recently switched the motherboard to the Asus Z77-A because we thought the motherboard was the problem (which previously had a GTX 980 Ti in it running fine).
