My mainboard is gigabyte H55M-S2V it support dual channel memory configuration. It supports memory up to 8GB.
"2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory"

does this mean that 8GB of memory can be achieved only by 2x4GB config.?
Is there a RAM limitation of 4GB per DIMM slot?
Please help......

Solution
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory (Note 1)
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 2200/1800/1600/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules
Support for Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory modules

(Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest supported memory speeds and memory modules.)

so...the answer to both ur questions is yes...
