Should I crossfire 2 old cards? (already have 1)

I was wondering if it would be worth it if I bought another 7870 to crossfire them due to the recent graphic demands. I'm not a hardcore gamer nor do I play on the highest setting for everything, but I don't want to upgrade to a new card until Nvidia and AMD both flush out their new line up of cards (possibly sometime next year or so) and maybe when Intel or AMD come out with a new nm chip. This isn't a priority though. The only reason why I'm thinking about buying another one is because some of these new games are starting to push out my graphics card. For example, I can play Rise of Tomb Raider on a medium settings, but with the new games coming out I'll be pushed down to low settings which will drive me crazy.

Another possibility is I already have another 7850 that I used to crossfire with the 7870 but I actually have 2 computers now. One is a home computer that I game on and another I work on school work with (architecture student so Autodesk and Adobe products mainly which don't much graphic processing) Should I just pair the two together and buy a completely separate card for the studio computer?

A 7870 should be able to handle new games on Medium settings unless you are running at past 1080 resolutions or you have a slower CPU.

If you are not using the other computer for games, and you already have the card, and you have a good enough power supply, then it's worth to run the dual cards. I'd check benchmarks before and after you do that since the 7870 will be running at the 7850 speeds.

There's so much hype around the new cards. Just seeing the GTX 1080 benchmarks I'm really not that impressed... Maybe wait for the new cards to come out and buy a current gen card @ a lower price?
